Beowulf 3D

Quite a bit more sexual and definitely a lot more violent than I thought it was going to be. And contrary to the "3D effects, 1D storyline" that one reviewer claimed, I was really impressed with the depth of characterization and the dark tone of the tale. Especially the second half. This is more than just Shrek for Adults Only. Don't expect any feel good Hollywood endings, and oh yes, there will be blood.

I'm still divided in opinion about trying to make the appearance of the characters as human-like as possible. There's no question about the verisimilitude of the backgrounds, and sometimes the characters too approach a very human look. But then there are just as many times when they look a little like dead-eyed zombies. And I don't mean just Grendal. Maybe if the characters were tweaked just a little so that they were more recognizably the creation of animation, I kind of think the look of the film would be perfect. Still, a stunning achievement that left me totally amazed.

Beasts, breasts and Fu galore. winstoninabox says check it out. But don't settle for the 2D version. Seek it out in 3D if you have to. You won't have seen anything like it before at the movies.

Do you think they might have a mother and baby viewing of that?
