I ate Living Fish

I think the title says it all. I went to an end of year party* tonight at a sushi restaurant. The first dish was small white fish swimming in something. They are now digesting in my stomach, probably drunk on the beer and gin and tonic that quickly followed them down.

New experiences are one of the joys of living abroad.

I'll soon post about the other stuff that has happened.

* it's the end of the school year

The scene was like the "monkey brains" one from Indianna Jones and the Temple of Doom. Everyone got excited when they saw what the first dish was, because it is apparently a bit of a delicacy, and not everyone had eaten it before.

Gosh. I say again.
Oysters, yes... okay, okay, I admit...we've swallowed.
But a little bitty fishy???
You know, in another situation you might be consoling the... oh wait,... I've eaten bunny. so that's not it.

Gah.

I probably would have eaten the live fish, but I would never eat monkey brains
Okay? Got that?

in china, they deepfried the live fish in front of me on the table.
that was too much.
it was a very expensive dish that my friends family forked out for because they had foreign visitors.
