Simply Marvelous

Wow, time seems to be slipping by and there hasn't been an update for a while. Best rectify that.

Recently I’ve been watching heaps of DVDs. This has both a positive and a negative side. On the positive Mari and I finished Season 2 of Buffy. Our local DVD store only has seasons 1 and 2, so that’s it for the moment, but it was just as good the second time around.

And then there are the negatives, the biggest being The Punisher (2004). Could a movie be more still born? I even enjoyed Catwoman more than this. It was trying to be 6 different movies at once, and none of them was given fair treatment. The actors tried, but they had such a mixed bag of a story to work with that they couldn’t do anything. Surprisingly (and yet maybe not so) Punisher 2 has been announced.

Which made the Fantastic Four such a strange pleasure. Michael France was half of the screenwriting pair on both films, yet FF knew exactly what it wanted to be. It stayed short enough to tell its story without any padding, it had action, and best of all it was piss funny. I would describe it as a superhero comedy. If you take a sense of humour I think it really works.

The weather it is a changing, as the days are just a little warm and humid, but the nights are really pleasant. The air conditioner hasn’t been on for a couple of weeks and it’s that little bit darker in the morning when I get up at 6am.

Had a great night out with a few friends at an English-style pub…
