Sofa and Akihabara

There's a new sofa here! It's L-shaped and has an ottoman (big footrest) on the end. Most comfortable, and I'm sure will provide hours of restful nights asleep in front of the idiot box. Spent half-a-day assembling it over various times of Saturday and Sunday. It's been over 5 years since I've owned something to sit on, so it was so cool to sit down to watch breakfast TV this morning. Didn't make Japanese TV any more palatable, but at least I didn't finish up with a square ass.

This does mean that it's crunch time for many of the books and possessions still in boxes. They used to be in the bedroom, as the bed was in the living space. With the the removal of the bed to the bedroom, the boxes have migrated to the dining space (it's the small area you walk through to get from the kitchen to the sofa). However as there are plans to put a small table where they are now, they obviously can't float around forever. Still, as they haven't been opened in 6 months, there's probably nothing important in them and they can all be thrown out. It's not as if I couldn't buy another copy of Sidney Sheldon's Master of the Game.

Went to Akihabara yesterday in search of new PSP games. It's been a week since the nut-job went crazy with a rental truck and knife. The central street, which is blocked to traffic on the weekends, was open but there were few cars. There were many people visiting the makeshift memorial at the big intersection. There were also heaps of people with questionnaires stopping passersby. And because of a fear of a copycat crime, Akihabara was crawling with cops. They were searching anyone who looked scruffy, people carrying large bags that weren't obviously electronics shopping, and fashion victims who thought that camouflage patterns are still in.

So I probably shouldn't have worn my black t-shirt that has written in kanji "Sorry for running amok with a sword". I don't know what I was thinking (btw I'm not making this up). Still, alls well that ends well. Scored Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony, but couldn't find Def Jam Fight for NY: The Takeover. Adding Dungeon Siege to the other 2 games I've picked up recently - Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and echochrome, and I think I'm set for the coming summer vacation.

I am in awe. How do you come to own a t-shirt saying "sorry for running amok with a sword", anyway?
