Ting, Ting, Ting
Last Friday Mari & I went down to the local city office and registered our marriage.
We then went away for the weekend to the Odawara Hilton, and had a jolly good time at its hot natural spa, badminton courts and amusement area which consists of karaoke, a bowling alley, and a coin-op House of the Dead 2. Killing zombies and belting out off-key 80s ballads with your newly wedded one is a great way to spend the weekend. Although it must be said that the one hour of badminton on Saturday left us physical wrecks, the trauma of which I am only recovering from now. The breakfast and dinner buffets certainly didn't help either.
Obtaining the necessary documents and getting time off together has been a fun logistical exercise. But about two weeks ago the paperwork and the timing started to come together. So while this announcement may seem sudden, it's actually something we've been working away at for some time. So sorry if you didn't know. You weren't ignored, we just didn't tell anyone except immediate family, and they only found out last week that Friday was the day we'd chosen.
We've no idea if or when we'll have a ceremony. Judging by how long it took us to get just the official side worked out I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. But with or without one, we're both pretty happy little chickens. Especially me, who still has one more week of summer vacation left.
