Stoked

U2 is now minus 24 hours and counting.

Casino Royale is minus 3 days and counting. Casino Royale seems to be the Bond flick people have been waiting for. Audiences are very satisfied with Daniel Graig. A peek at IMDB just now showed a user rating of 8.1 (out of 10) from 25,480 votes. To put this in perspective, Goldfinger has a 7.8 from 25,618 votes and From Russia with Love has 7.4 from 14,398 votes.

Is Casino Royale really better than these two classic Bonds?

I'll certainly be there to find out.

Happy Baitday Michiko...

proclaimed the chocolate writing on Michiko's cake. This was at a Spanish restaurant the other night. Maybe "baitday" is from a Spanish dialect?

That was last Sunday, and was the first day in this fortnight of entertainment. Thursday was lunch at the Tokyo Hilton. A surprising value-fest it was. Reasonably priced with a smörgåsbord of finger food, cakes and sweets, ice cream and coffee. And an amazing 3+1/2 hour time limit! Does this look like a man who has had all he can eat? No! So it was off to the Japanese pub for more finger food and just a few beers.

Friday, needless to say, was a slow day.

Tonight is gayboy DVDs and sleepover at Allan's. Then Sunday is hunting with Ted and buying own Xmas present in Akihabara. I'm getting a printer/scanner from Santa.

Thursday is U2. Saturday burgers and 007. Then Ms. Alix must be arriving sometime soon after that. Miss Alix, it's very cold. Be prepared!

Oh, and I'm supposed to be attending something called work inside all of that. But fortunately not for long, as the Xmas hols are just around the corner.

The Other Half

I'd been told that the area of Tokyo I've moved to is considered upmarket. Certainly not the part where I live, so I was wont not to believe it. However a few minutes walk across the tracks revealed real houses, some with gardens. Multiple garages were abundant. And then I found this stable, and just had to take a few pictures with the mobile phone. I reproduce them so you too can view the opulence we are all missing out on.

Someone doesn't believe in supporting the local car industry, hey.

What I really like is the glass garage doors. You may look, but don't touch peasant.

Tomorrow's Predicition

It will end badly.

Who Weathers the Weathermen?

I'm informing you today. I walk outside at lunchtime, and am forgiven for thinking it is a summer day. The sun is shining, and by the time I'm back from the Post Office, I'm sweating.

I'm informing you tomorrow. It's raining. It isn't pleasant outside. By the evening the rain stops, and the the wind takes over. Through the night the wind howls.

I'm informing you the day after tomorrow. Winter arrives. Everyone wears coats and scarfs. I buy a blanket, and extra sockies for my feet. Tomorrow's prediction is for 4 in the morning.

24

Friday last week was a holiday, and so teachers had planned a little drinky poohs for Thursday nite. I was supposed to go hunting with Ted early Friday so I thought I'd just stay for a few and then go home.

But while I was at the party I received an e-mail from Ted canceling, so now there was no reason to get up early.

The first party became the second party.

Then the second party became karaoke. This was my first time to go to karaoke with no other non-Japanese. Thus the selection of songs for the night was predominately Japanese, with my chiming in with the occasional strangulation of U2. I’m getting pretty hyped about their concert in a few weeks.

3 am was the darkest hour as I struggled to stay awake, but fortunately the 2nd wind arrived.

4 am came and went and there was a little time to kill until the first train. So we decided to eat ramen for breakfast. Hmmmm, ramen.

5:30 and I collapsed into bed.

I’ve got no idea how Jack Bauer does what he does.
